## UPPER LEVEL SSAT SAMPLE QUESTION: Geometry and Measurement

Here’s a SSAT sample question to help you practice the type of Geometry and Measurement problem you may find on the quantitative section of the Upper Level SSAT.

**What is ****Geometry and Measurement****?**

Perimeter refers to the distance around the outer boundary of a figure. Area refers to the measure of a surface. Volume refers to the three-dimensional measure of a shape. For example, the perimeter of this square is 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 = 20 units. The area is 5 × 5 = 25 square units

**SSAT Sample Question for Geometry and Measurement**

The width of a rectangle is five times its length. If the area of the

rectangle is 45, then what is the perimeter of the rectangle?

(A) 3

(B) 9

(C) 15

(D) 18

(E) 36

**Answer Key:**

**(E) 36**

Let x = length; 5x = width

5x² = 45

x² = 9

Then, x = 3

5x = 15

perimeter = 3 + 15 + 3 + 15 = 36
