Isabel is a SSAT Student Advisory Board Member.

Favorite Subjects: English, Geometry, Latin
Favorite Activities: Visual and Performing Arts, Tennis

Isabel is pursuing boarding schools and boarding schools with day school options. She hopes to take academically challenging classes and meet students from all over the world. Isabel believes independent schools focus more on learning rather than testing, and they provide smaller classes on a greater variety of topics than you’d find in other types of schools. As a SSAT Student Advisory Board Member, Isabel will be writing for the blog and providing feedback to help shape new tools for taking the SSAT and applying to independent schools. Meet Scott J.

Scott is a SSAT Student Advisory Board Member.

Scott is pursuing independent day schools. He’s looking at transitioning from public school to independent school in order to learn at a faster pace, become proficient in the activities that interest him most, develop long-lasting friendships and increase his chances of being considered by Ivy League universities. As an SSAT Student Advisory Board Member, Scott will be sharing his insights on the independent school testing and admission process, as well as feedback on new tools and features that will make it easier for future students to take the SSAT and apply to schools.

Thomas is a SSAT Student Advisory Board Member.

Favorite Subject: Animation (using Maya, taught online by a former head animator for Disney)
Favorite Activities: Acting and Fine Arts

Thomas is pursuing independent day schools and scholarships. He understands the importance of financial aid and working hard to get into the independent school that you feel is best for you. As a SSAT Student Advisory Board Member, Thomas writes content for the blog and provides feedback that will help improve SSAT.org for future test takers and independent school applicants. Meet Ryan P.


Ryan is a SSAT Student Advisory Board Member.

Location: Seoul, South Korea
Current Grade: 9 (2016-2017)

Favorite Activities: Makerspace

Ryan is pursuing independent boarding schools. Ryan took the SSAT 3+ times in order to improve his score and he encourages future SSAT test takers to start a study program as soon as they decide to apply to an independent boarding or day school. An SSAT study plan should include assessing weaknesses and finding ways to strengthen them methodically, as well as making sure you understand how the SSAT is scored. As a SSAT Student Advisory Board Member, Ryan will be sharing his insights on the independent school admission process and his feedback on new tools and features for preparing for the SSAT.


Meet Faith H.

Favorite Subject: Spanish
Favorite Activities: Tennis, badminton, Key Club, spending time with friends

Faith is attending an all-girls boarding and day school in North Carolina. The things she loves most about her school are the small, challenging classes, and getting to know her classmates, especially the boarding students from around the world and country. Faith intends to pursue a college degree after high school but is still determining what field it will be in by exploring new activities and interests.


Meet Patrick B.

Patrick is a SSAT Student Advisory Board Member.

Favorite Subject: Biology
Favorite Activities: Drone photography, music, video game beta-testing, helping his community.

Patrick is pursuing private schools. His favorite subject in school is biology because of the hands-on experiments and because of his ability to grasp concepts such as a cell’s inherent structure. Also, Patrick plays the double bass for the Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra. His dream is to one day perform as a double bassist in the Boston Pops Orchestra. As a member of the SSAT Student Advisory Board, Patrick will be sharing his thoughts about attending independent schooling as well as specific strategies for SSAT test prep.
